So in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know , but you should respect for their roles on their respective teams.
Homewood Flossmoor Jack Schmitz Tight End Class of 2019 6'4 210
So Jack Schmitz what teams have you been talking to?
Miami of Ohio was my first visit, I’ve been in touch with them. Minnesota has also been in touch with me. They came to the school to visit me and a couple others. I spoke to the Michigan state awhile back. Eastern Michigan also invited me out a couple times, but I never had any free time.
What are you doing to get yourself ready for next season?
I’m in wrestling right now and it’s helping me learn how to use my frame. I’m also doing speed and strength training with our track coach.
Great follow up question: Has Wrestling helped your blocking technique?
It really has. My hand placement is much more accurate and I’m better on my feet. It’s gonna be fun season to test all these new skills I’ve obtained from wresting out on the Turf.
When I say Homewood Flossmoor Football, What that mean to you?
It’s a brotherhood. I know that when I step on that field, weight room, even in the classroom, they’re all there for me and I’m there for them through the good and the bad.
Name one HF Player that College Coaches need to look at that haven't yet?
My boy Maurion Scott has the height speed and strength to make it at the next level.
Illinois Class of 2019 is the year of the "LITTLE BROTHER" Little Brothers of D1 Bigger Brothers. What Knowledge has your older brother passed down to you?
My brother tells me every time I see him that if I work hard, the offers will come. He also helps me out with a lot of technique which is huge for my game because I’m getting first hand knowledge from a big ten player. 2018 is going to be a big year for me and I’m ready for it.
What is one position you want to play but you know your coaches would say "NO"?
Hahaha I would want to play quarterback
