Ty Risberg how was your 2019 season?
It was an amazing opportunity. I was able to play the whole year up on Varsity and play against a lot of high level competition. I was surrounded by great leaders and teammates who really helped me learn and improve my skills on and off the field. Overall, my 2019 season was a great way to start off my Varsity career.
What does football mean to you?
Football means the world to me. It is much more than just a sport, it is something that has given me so many opportunities to grow as man. Football has let me grow a special relationship with my older brother that I do not think I would ever have had. Football is amazing and that’s the best way to put it.
What should college coaches know about you?
I demand the most out of myself in everything I do. I love football but more than that I love to compete. I seek competition in everything and always want to win. While I hold extremely high standards for myself, I also hold my teammates to their own, and team, standards so everyone can succeed.
What do you feel is your strongest trait on the field?
I feel my strongest trait is my ability use my mind on the field. I always know how to gain leverage on the defense with my technique and how to use my body to win each play. I am very physical on field and will go toe to toe with whomever I am against. Every time I am on field I aim to win every rep and leave to bad reps in the past.
How do you feel about the IHSA schedule announcement today?
I am super excited that we are getting an opportunity to play. Players in Illinois have been at a disadvantage without a season and we are getting an opportunity to compete, so that is awesome. I know everyone is ready and we will make to most out of our opportunity.
