So, in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know, but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams. This is one of the many reasons why Deep Dish Football is respected in the IHSA. Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

Hayden Davis Oak Lawn LB/FB/ATH Class Of 2024 5'8 170

Hayden Davis how was your junior season? My junior season was the best season and the most improved season I have had in the past 3 years of playing football, I walk in on the first day of summer camp with my position changed from center / defensive line, to see I’m now at fullback / mike linebacker. I look at the depth chart and I knew I was going to have to work my butt off being a 3rd string at both positions. And that’s what I did I worked my way up the depth chart too starting either at linebacker or fullback 5/9 games this season, earning the coaches trust, and showing myself how good of a player I can be when given the right chance. My first ever varsity start was against Evergreen Park Week 3, and I had a total of 121 rushing yards against them. After that game I learned to trust myself and my skill set. I am forever appreciative of my teammates and the seniors I played with that year, especially the coaches. Overall, my junior year was an awesome year for me. Building my confidence and proving everybody that I can play football.

What does football mean to you? I’ve been wanting to play football ever since I was a child. I finally got the chance to play in high-school and I haven’t once doubted my love for the game. Football too me is my life, everything I do I think of how it will translate onto the field, or improve me as a human. What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? My strongest trait on the football field is my leadership and vision, I always try to lead others even if it’s helping them during practice and especially during games or even getting 1 more rep in the weight room. My vision as a mike linebacker just naturally have to be the best part of me, I have to hit the right gap. Or I have too read which way the balls going because of the way the offense in front of me is lined up. What should college coaches know about you? College coaches should know that I am the first person in and the last person out. I push my teammates and myself too be better every day. Even though I might be undersized a little, I am the hardest worker in the room, always giving it 100% if it’s fighting off a block, hitting a gap as hard as I can, or in the weightroom. Who else on Oak Lawn should be on the lookout for this upcoming season? You should look out for TJ Vrabel, Isaac Barba, Hassan Hussein What do incoming freshmen players need to know about the Oak Lawn program? We are a family, the program has changed ever since Coach Pattision, he’s made Oak Lawn a very good football program, practices are hard you go there and there going to expect you to work your butt off. You go too off-season workouts, that standard is still there. They want to bring out the best, and make you guys the best athletes that they could be.
