Mikah Hall how is your summer going so far? It’s actually been great, 90% of my summer consists of lifting and football which is fun. I’ve gone to a couple college recruiting camps to start getting my name out there and showcase my talents to some schools. The weight room has been a huge part of my summer, I’ve gotten a lot bigger since my sophomore season which is great. Also, our summer practices for football have been great, our team is ready to play and I’m very excited to see how we do in the fall once summer ends. How was your sophomore season? I’d say my sophomore season was a lot better than it was on paper. For me my sophomore season was all about learning. I played up on varsity and started both ways which was great. I got to learn from three of the best IVC football players to ever do it last year, and they taught me a lot. They’ve taught me things that I will use for the rest of my football career and things I will teach to the younger guys. But my overall performance was pretty decent I’d say. I didn’t really do anything spectacular my sophomore year, but I did my job in games. I also did make some mistakes, and did learn from those mistakes. Now I’m going into my junior season and I’m excited. We went 2 and 6 last year and that put a little chip on my shoulder. Losing is not fun and that is something I’d never like to experience again. So going into this season I am going to do everything I can to make sure that doesn’t happen again.
What does football mean to you? It means everything in this world to me. I love watching it, playing it, and learning it. Football is an art to me and it’s absolutely beautiful. I could never imagine my life without football, it is my past, present, and future. I plan on hopefully being able to coach either at the high school or college level once my playing career is over. What should college coaches know about you? There is no off switch for me. No matter how hard practice is or how bad we our losing in game, the energy and effort is 110% all the way to the end. Also I love extra work, whether it’s an extra workout or a couple extra hours of studying and breaking down game film. The main thing I want college coaches to know about me though is that my teammates mean everything to me, and I try to focus getting them better as much as I focus on getting myself better.
How does IVC look for the upcoming season?
We look great, our energy as a team is high and we have been working really hard as a team. We are going to be young but this team has a lot of chemistry, especially on the offensive side of the ball. The offensive line looks better than it was the previous year and our receiving core is probably the best it’s been in a long time. Our quarterback this year Bryce is amazing, he’s got an arm and is probably the smartest quarterback in this area. He’s also just about a bigger threat running the ball as he is throwing. We’ve also had some new coaching changes this year that the team is definitely excited about. I predict we will definitely be in the playoff run by the end of the season and IVC football is going to be fun to watch this year. Especially on the new field that we got.
Who else on IVC should we be on the lookout for this upcoming season?
Most definitely Bryce Ratcliff, Logan Norris, Connor Buchannan and Emmanuel Roberson.
What goals do you have for yourself this season? Well, I feel like the sky is the limit, so I’m really hoping to get that 1st team all-conference and all state. I’m also focusing on being a big threat on the offensive side of the ball so defenses will start focusing on me more to open my teammates up for more opportunities to make a play.
