Karmelo Abernathy Murphysboro WR/DB Class Of 2024 6'2 160

Karmelo Abernathy how is your offseason going for you? It’s going great actually! I’ve been working with my QB to improve myself as a receiver. I’ve also been working with Mckendree commit Devon Clemons, where we work on agility, plyos and catching. I’ve even found time to run a business on top of all of that!

How was your junior season? It was great, going to round 3, and getting to play along side some of the best was a great opportunity. I’ve also gotten to prove myself as a wide receiver and DB! Definitely made a name for myself my junior season, and now its only up from here! What schools have you been talking to so far? I’ve been talking to a few colleges like McKendree, Wisconsin-Plateville, and also Illinois College. What should college coaches know about you? Coaches should know that I am very determined, and I have a great work ethic! I'm willing to do everything 110%, no matter if its school or sports. I’m open to be critiqued, and I’m well coached. I'm an explosive go getter, that can make things happen when needed! I am Karmelo Abernathy. What does football mean to you? It means a lot, it’s the root to everything. Football has really made me who I am, when it comes to life lessons, losing, are not being the best. Football is more than s sport to me, it tells a story. And the more I play the more I learn sbout myself. What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? My grit, I can be knocked down or discouraged many times but I’ll always get back up, and encourage my teammates. One thing about me is im always there for my team, and i’ll do whats best to keep them up. What goals do you have for yourself this upcoming season? I’m definitely reaching for All-State, and earn a few scholarships going into my senior year!

Who else on Murphysboro should we be on the lookout for the upcoming season? Zack Naas c/o 24 (RB/Safety), Joshua Cano c/o 24 (TE/DE), as well as Jakaryion Bankhead c/o 24 OL.
