Neuqua Valley 6'3 Defensive End Adam Filburn Class Of 2023 Talks Rugby & Recruiting

So, in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for lllinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know, but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams. Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

Adam Filburn Neuqua Valley DE/ATH Class of 2023 6'3 215

Adam Filburn how was your junior season? I think overall it was great. The team performed amazing, we had some great coaches that came in. Me personally it was my first experience on the varsity team so I learned a lot about discipline, hard work, and family aspects of the sport. I would like to be even better than what I was my junior season. What does football mean to you? I see it as a sport/hobby obviously, but the longer I played it the more I saw it as a family like I mentioned earlier. I don't think I can name another sport that you are around your teammates 365 days during the season and off season. The experience is also just amazing. The grind, the wins and losses, the practices, the off season, etc. What should college coaches know about you? That I am looking for another place I can call home after my high school career where I can ball out. What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? I think my strongest trait is my pass rushing, especially the club/chop move I feel is really useful. I also feel like my mindset of GATA helps on the football field. How has playing Rugby helped your football technique? I think rugby definitely helped with my tackling form. The sport forces you to get low and tackle and prevents you from getting ran over. This all should help me since I play the defensive side of the football. It also gives me a chance to run the ball unlike football. I mainly chose the sport so it could help translate some techniques over to football. How is your Rugby season going so far?

We are the 46th ranked team in the country, we placed 3rd out of 81 teams in the North Carolina Ruggerfest! We have a scrimmage against some teams tomorrow morning to kickoff the start of our season. This is my first year playing rugby and I am starting on varsity so I'm stoked! We got big hopes for a 6th stage title this year! What goals do you have for yourself this season in the fall? Play both sides of the ball effectively, do everything I've don't prior but better and hopefully get recruited!
