Cade Stevens Streator ATH Class of 2022 6'1 190

Cade Stevens how was your 2019 season? It went pretty well, we built off of a good season the year before where we got some new younger guys on the team and we continued to develop. During the start of my 2018 season I had a broken finger that kept me out for a little bit, so for me, 2019 was a big bounce back opportunity, that I feel I definitely took advantage of. Our team finished 5-4, but all of our losses were close and we were right there in those games. Regarding my stats, I rushed for about 750 yards and led the team with 7 TDs, so that felt pretty good to get back into my rhythm after a season were an injury made it not as good as it could have been. What should college coaches know about you? I think that they should know that I really don't think there is a kid out there that wants it more than I do, I'm sure they hear things similar to that often, but I really think that I want it more, and I think that is the mentality I have to have not only in life, but also every time I step onto the field. I think they should know that with me they are getting a kid that is going to make the most out of their opportunities, prove how dedicated to the game and my dreams I am, and most importantly, do whatever I possibly can to help my team be as successful as possible. What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? I would have to say that my ability to not go down easy at all. I keep the legs pumping and I just have it in my head that I'm not going to let anyone bring me down easily. I might also have to say my ability to be "all-purpose" I can outrun and juke out one kid, but I'm not afraid to lower the shoulder and go through another, I feel that not going down easy mixed with an "all-purpose" style of running makes for my strongest trait. What part of your game have you been working on in the offseason? I have always been one of the faster kids, but this offseason I have been doing a lot of stuff to really improve my speed and agility, I also have been really working on my hands and catching out of the backfield. And of course I am always lifting and trying to get stronger! What does football mean to you? Since I picked up a football for the first time way back in Kindergarten, I just fell in love with the game. I remember watching one of my first Bear's games and thinking to myself that this is what I want to do with my life. I want to play as long as I can, and since that game when I found out I can play my favorite sport as a job if I worked hard enough, that is all I have been focused on. One day I would love to be able to even help people, through the use of football, as a platform of sorts. So it means a lot to me, as something that has always been there for me as an escape all the way to it being what I want to do for a job in the future, and everything in between.

How does Streator look for the upcoming season?

I think we look very good as well as extremely promising. If you are someone that lived in the area, or followed Streator sports, then you would know that for quite some time, Streator has had a less than good football program. That is going to change this upcoming season. Coach Tutt was just brought in this year to make a change in Streator football and I think it is safe to say he has exceeded everyone's expectations and then some, and the season has not even started yet. A lot of people are used to Streator not being a great football school with very seldom playoff births sprinkled through the years, but that is going to change under Coach Tutt, that is something I can promise. Our team is filled with guys who want the same as me, and that is for Streator to be known as a school with a great football program. And we ready to change the way a lot of people see Streator football. To sum it all up, I have never been so excited to play football in my life and I am praying and remaining extremely hopeful that we will have a season coming up here shortly in the Spring.
