Colton Lenz Naperville Central Linebacker Class Of 2024 6'1 205
Colton Lenz how was your junior season? Overall, my junior season went pretty well. I would say it was a big learning year for me. The senior linebackers taught me a lot and were good examples of what I hope to be doing next year. I felt as though I grew a lot as a player and will continue to improve throughout the off season. What should college coaches know about you? I want college coaches to know that I will never stop working and give 110% in every situation. I am always looking to improve as a player, using my coach’s feedback to get better on the field. I know how important school is and will continue to work to maintain a high GPA. Football is my passion and there is no place I’d rather be than on that field with my team.
What does football mean to you? Football is more than just a sport to me. I love everything about it. From the team dinners to the grind of summer camp to my family and friends supporting me through all of it. The bond with my teammates through all of the ups and downs of the season is unbreakable and they are all like brothers to me. I love how football pushes me both physically and mentally as it is not an easy sport to play. I have learned a lot about myself through football as it challenges me to push through adversity and gives me an outlet to do something I love. I know I am more than just a football player but I can’t imagine myself without it. What do you like about playing linebacker? Growing up a hockey player, I always loved being able to hit people on the ice but didn’t love spending time in the penalty box for it. As a linebacker, I am able to hit guys and use my aggressiveness to my team’s advantage without being penalized. I love stopping the run game but also dropping into pass coverage as well as communicating on the field and reading my keys to make the play. Working to increase my strength and agility to come back even stronger for my senior season! What part of your game do you plan on working on in the offseason? In the offseason, I plan on continuing to work on my strength and speed. At the gym, I will continue with my olympic lifting to not only become stronger but more explosive. I also plan on watching film to self-reflect and take mental reps to increase my knowledge of the game.
How good can this Naperville Central squad be for next season? I feel as though we will pick up right where we left off. We have a team full of hard workers who are going to grind this offseason.
