Mobi Oguike how was your season? I believe that I had a great season, I improved in every way compared to last season and I hope to have an even better season next year What does football mean to you? Football is a sport that gives me the opportunity to be myself. It’s a sport where the team with more determination, teamwork, and leadership wins. These skills help off the field just as much as on it, which is why I like it so much. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without it.
What should college coaches know about you?
I’m very coachable, when a coach tells me something constructive, I listen and fix it. Last year my coaches told me to gain weight and get stronger and I did exactly that. They said to work on my technique, and I did exactly that. And I’ve only gotten better because of these things. I also like to take a leadership role on a team, I am willing to help any player on the team if it means that they get better, and the team gets better.
What was one of your favorite memories last season?
Great question. My favorite memory was the third game of the season. We were going up against Montini and I knew they were a good team and was kind of nervous. I prayed all week up until Friday. Almost my whole family was at the game so I knew I had to play great. I had in my opinion my best game of the season to win 8-7.
What do you like about playing in the trenches?
I like how it’s very 1on1. If you get past an offensive lineman it was because you gave it your all and beat him. If you pancake a defensive lineman it’s because you have your all and beat him. There’s also no better feeling then sacking a quarterback
What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field?
My size is what comes to mind first. I’m 6’3 250 as of right now. Another strong trait is my run stop ability. I don’t allow runs to go through my gap.
What part of your game do you plan on working on in the offseason? My speed is the first thing I really want to work on. I’m not slow but I need to be faster. I also want to work on my stamina as well as mastering some more defensive line moves.
