Riley Contreras how was your season? To start the season, I was excited for the challenge of playing Sophomore QB but also thrilled to be reunited with teammates that I’ve played with my whole life growing up. These are guys that I’ve built great chemistry and trust with over the years. Then, with three games left in the season, our Senior QB Billy Cernugel got hurt and I was called up to start as the Varsity QB. The upperclassman and coaches were great to me and really prepared me for the games. We played York and Glenbard West, two of the teams currently in the final four of the 8A playoffs. Overall, it was a great experience that will help me prepare for next season. What does football mean to you? Football has always been a huge part of my life. I’ve loved the game for as long as I can remember. I love every part of it.. the lifts, training, being on the field with my teammates, and playing under the lights. There’s nothing else quite like it.

What should college coaches know about you? I would like coaches to know that I am a athlete. I play quarterback for my high school, but I also play wide receiver and DB for one of the top 7v7 programs in the country. I have a very strong work ethic. I am also very coachable and I will do whatever it takes to help my team succeed. I will always give my all, both on and off the field. What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? I feel like one of my strongest traits on the football field is my pocket awareness, which comes from trust in my OLine and understanding the plays. This allows me to be calm during and between plays. What are your goals for yourself next season? My main goal for next season is for my team to win the conference, and ultimately win a state championship. What is your dream school to play for in college? It’s my dream to play college football at the highest level. I would be blessed to play for any school that gives me the opportunity.
