Charlie Cruse Downers Grove North Athlete Class of 2025

Charlie Cruse what does football mean to you? Football to me has been a journey of growth. Starting off playing the line and transitioning to a WR/RB has helped me develop not just as a player but as a young man. I love to see how the team takes the fundamentals, skills and emotions and put it to work on the field. That’s what makes me love football. How was your 8th Grade Season? It was a interesting and exciting season. My QB, Owen Lansu got injured early in the season. So I did what any other Team Captain would do, you step in. With no prior training or practice, I took on the role as QB. This wasn’t something our team was ready for, but we made the best of it. Owen came back at the end of the season, and the duo was reunited. I was thankful that the Downers Grove Panthers and Coach Lansu pushed for a 8th grade season due to COVID. How excited are you to start high school football? I’m hyped for the high school season. This year I was privileged with the opportunity to talk with many of the high school football coaches. Every one of them were supportive and respectful . I couldn’t be more excited to play for Downers Grove North and to be under Coach Horeni’s guidance. What excites me the most is to be playing for the town I live in. What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? I recently was at a camp and my 40 yard dash was 4.83. I’d say my speed is one of my strongest traits. My mechanics, quick release and my ability to catch the ball wherever it’s thrown all contribute to my athleticism. What goals do you have for yourself this upcoming season? My goals this season are to take what I’ve learned so far and apply it where needed, and at the same time learn from all the current DGN players & coaches. I am going to work hard, show up every day ready to play, and become the best player & teammate I can be.

Remember Deep Dish Football Is Just Not About Recruiting But About The Love Of The Game Of IHSA Football
