Conversation With Whitney Young Linebacker Aleksandar Dale Class Of 2023

So, in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know, but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams. This is one of the many reasons why Deep Dish Football is respected in the IHSA. Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

Aleksander Dale how was your season? The season definitely did not go as I wanted, or the team wanted. We lost some close games and next thing I knew we were having a losing season. But we were a young team mostly freshmen and sophomore most of them it was their first year playing varsity football. With me and only one other senior on the team we shouldered a lot of responsibility in leading the young guys. We had some unfortunate injuries early on but the flashes of talent from the young guys are certainly there. Whitney Young football should come back even stronger next year with even more gains in the off-season and the learning experiences from this year. What does football mean to you? Football means everything to me. I grew up learning football from my dad and my uncle and they were both my heroes growing up. I was not allowed to play football until high school so when I was finally able to play it was life changing. I grew not only physically but also mentally and also as a person playing football. I feel at peace on the football field. Things just make more sense to me on the field then off of it. I love the brotherhood of football I feel no other sport creates a family quite like football does.

What should college coaches know about you? I am a hardworker and a team player. I will fill any role asked of me without hesitation. I play smart and physical as an interior linebacker. I am great at tackling in space and bringing guys to the ground. I am constantly watching film and always figuring out offensive tendencies. But the thing I pride myself the most in is being coachable. I love learning and adapting my game to make sure I am being the best player I can be. Most importantly I will always give my 200% no matter the circumstance you will always see me flying around the field. What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? My strongest trait is my instincts. I have a high awareness for where the ball is gonna be and what the offense is trying to do. My instincts allows me to sniff out screens or get interceptions. My instincts and football IQ allow me to play downhill and react to the ball to make a play. I also have the ability to tackle in space. I know when to breakdown and shoot my shot or when to just hit a guy full speed.

What do you like about playing tight end? My favorite part about playing tight end is just the physicality and versatility of the position. One play I could be lined up on the line getting to block a defensive end. I could also be lined up as a wing and get to pull for a linebacker on a counter sit. But not only do I get to block in the trenches I can also go out for passes. I like to get the ball in my hands and just run guys over. And that's just the awesome part about being a tight end you get to block on the line and put guys in the dirt and you get to catch the ball and then put guys in the dirt so either way it's gonna be physical.
