Jake Petrow St. Ignatius QB 6'2 180 Class of 2023

Jake Petrow how was your junior season? My junior season was a ride. I started out the season second string after I competed to start the whole summer. Game 4 against Marmion, we were down and my coaches game me a shot. I ended up leading a comeback from down 16 to win 20-16. The team, my coaches, and I never looked back, that game gave us the confidence to beat Chicago Mount Carmel the following week. All in all, I had a blast and learned a ton too not only about the game but myself as a player too and how I can improve for this coming year. What does football mean to you? Football, to me, is an opportunity to get away from school and outside drama and just focus on my craft and have fun. Learning and improving is something I strive for every day as my passion for this sport keeps growing due to of the love I have for this game. Lessons I learn from football help me not only on but off the field as well. I would not be the young, determined man I am today without it. What should college coaches know about you? Colleges should know that I am very passionate for this sport and want to be the best I can be, I’m willing to go to the extreme to improve and win. I love to lead, to make an example out of my self and pick up others when their down. I believe my best quality at quarterback is what I do when I make a mistake or when facing adversity. I always try to keep my head and move on to the next play, admitting my fault and not lose any confidence. I try to set an example so the team can follow after me and learn from our losses/mistakes even at our lowest points.
What do you like about playing QB? I love the responsibility and the challenge of playing quarterback. Although tough at times, if you trust in yourself and your ability you will get the job done. You must be a leader, command the players on and off of the field. Keep up the energy on the dog days and stay poised in tough situations. What goals do you have for yourself this season? This upcoming season my personals goals are to rush for 1000+ yards and have a 65% completion or better. I also want to lead the Wolfpack to State and become a better person than I was when I started.
