John Niecikowski ICCP OL Class Of 2024

John Niecikowski how was your junior season? Definitely didn’t go as planned. I tore my ACL in the first game and it felt like all my hard work from the summer went to waste and I saw my life for the next month's crumble away. However, I tried to stay positive and worked hard in rehabilitation and I was ready to be there for my team in different ways. What does football mean to you? To me football means loyalty, repetition, and consistency, in two significant ways. You have to be loyal to your brothers, on and off the field, and consistent in your hard work for the sake of the team. Moreover, loyalty and consistency on the field is about remaining loyal to your assignment on every play, and repping it over and over so it becomes consistent like muscle memory. What would you say to a player that is injured trying to get back to health to play football? “The grass is greener on the other side” and “Trust in the plan God has for you”. You can’t let the injury get to you and affect your work ethic: if you can’t run, or jump, or work out, do what you can, such as hit the books or watch film. Recover at your own pace, don’t rush yourself, it’ll only put you back further than where you started. And trusting God’s plan is about remaining hopeful and having faith in God that he guides along a good recovery. What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? Playing every down like it’s my last, to the whistle everytime. That means running up and down and across the field always ready to pick someone up or help the way work

What excites you the most this upcoming season? This year is personal for me. This is my year to bounce back and join my brothers on the field once again — been too long.
