This is one of the many reasons why Deep Dish Football is respected in the IHSA. Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

Charlie McArdle St. Charles East Linebacker Class Of 2024 6'2 200

Charlie McArdle how was your junior season? My junior season was electric. My team didn’t end up with the record we desired, but I was able to learn and grow exponentially as a player. My offseason really showed on the field, and I was able to play a huge role in our defensive scheme. I am looking forward to being more utilized on the offense next year in the backfield, at tight end, and at slot, as I wished to be more involved in the offense this year. In my highlights I display a lot of diversity on the defense at outside/middle linebackers, and on the d-line, and was able to make disruptions at every spot I played. What does football mean to you? Football is more than life to me. Every day I take a step towards improving at the sport and hope nothing gets in the way of football and I. I improve in school to improve my GPA for myself, coaches, and to increase my work ethic for myself. This is in addition to working every day to improve my game in any time I have outside of school whether it's learning my position mentally, or physically getting better.

What should college coaches know about you? College coaches should know that I lead through not only my words, but mostly my actions. I have a great work ethic, I am very coachable, I love to play anywhere and everywhere on the field, I can turn around the momentum of the game with big plays. I am always looking to get better and always watching film to know my team and other teams without any doubts. What do you believe is your strongest trait on the football field? My strongest trait on the field is always making an impact on where the ball will be placed again. Like I said earlier, I am able to change the momentum of the game with a large play. I am always where the ball is at and pushing it back the other way. I lead by example and do whatever it takes to be in the right position to help my team win. What do you like about playing on defense? My favorite part about being on defense is bringing down any ballcarrier behind the line of scrimmage or in general and being able to hit. I also love defense because I am able to be reactive and having control over the opposing offense, It's one of the best feelings. It's also to make sure my offense doesn't have to worry about points being scored against them.

What goals do you have for yourself next season? Next season I want to have no doubt about receiving all-conference and strive for all-state. I want to be known as a leader in my teammates and coaches eyes. I want to lead communication on the field and I want my teammates to know that I have their back every play. I want to improve in every aspect of my game and help my team improve to a record better than this year, and then lead my team through everything that follows that better record.
