Dominic Pettenon Brother Rice DL Class of 2024 6'2 200
Dominic Pettenon how was your sophomore season? My sophomore season gave me the motivation to keep pushing forward no matter how hard, tired, or weak I felt. I saw myself getting mentally and physically better with each day I trained. I know that no matter what, there’s always more work to be done and I will do my very best to get it done, and then some. I learned that every day I demand more from myself than anybody could possibly expect. I don’t compete with other people; I compete with what I am and what I am capable of. Being the captain of the sophomore team, my goal was to motivate not only myself but the guys around me. What does football mean to you? To be honest with you it means almost everything to me, my motto is God, family, and football. The only thing that is close to football is getting a great education and keeping my grades up. I put my heart and soul into every play that I am in. When I leave the field, I try doing it with no regrets. What should college coaches know about you? What coaches need to know about me is that I give a 110% in everything I do whether it’s football, school, or at home. I will make sure that if a coach takes a look at me, they won’t regret giving me a chance. I will make sure that every single player is motivated on and off the field, and I will always set a good example. Not only do I want to make myself proud, I also want to make my family, team, and above all my Coach proud. I would also like coaches to know that I will always play physical everything single down and every single play. What do you like about playing on the defensive line? I like playing on the defensive line because I like to be physical and using my mind to outthink the man in front of you. I love how you can use the different moves and stances that I learn in training to get passed the offensive line or taking on a puller. You have to be strong and focused and work as a unit all the time. What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? I believe my strongest trait on the field is my leadership and my ability to take charge in stressful situations. I also believe that my ability to react and read the plays are strong. But most of all it’s the fact that I don’t mind, some bumps and bruises, and being smart and physical.
