Joey DeMarco Oswego DB Class of 2021 5'9 150

Joey DeMarco how was your 2019 season?

I feel like it was a pretty solid season for my junior year. There is always room for improvement but overall I think it was pretty solid.

What does football mean to you?

Well I’m coming up on my 12th year of playing football and I feel like it’s just become a huge part of my life. A lot of my closest friends were made because of football so I’m very thankful to play this sport

What part of your game have you been working on in the offseason?

Well I’ve been working on getting stronger for this upcoming season. I’ve also been out doing a lot of DB and speed drills. I feel like if I can combine a lot of strength and speed then I’ll be a way better defensive back then I was.

What should college coaches know about you?

I feel like they should know that I will work harder and learn the defense better than most defensive backs. I take pride in not only my athleticism but my understanding of the game and being able to read offenses on the fly. Obviously being athletic is a big part of football, but if you can be smarter than your opponent then you will win more games.

Who is ready for a breakout season on Oswego in 2020?

I got to say that Nick Hampton is definitely going to have a breakout year this year. He is an absolute speed demon and a nightmare for defensive backs. I also think that our junior running back Jacob Sergen is going to step up this year. He is a running back that is not afraid to run in between the tackles. And then obviously our line is going to be really solid. Then on the defensive side of the ball our D-line will be as good if not better then last year. Our linebacker core is now experienced full of seniors. And last but not least our DBs are probably the sleeper of the team but I think everyone will be woken up after week one.
