Hunter Sperling Chicago Christian OL/DT 6'3 255 Class of 2021
Hunter Sperling how was your 2019 season?
It was nothing short of spectacular. The relationships I was able to develop with the Christ like men around me was great! Coach Cook does a great job of developing us as Christ like men who have a very strong relationship and bond. Also, making the playoffs back to back years was a huge highlight of this season and I can't wait to get the ball rolling into 2020 senior year!
What does football mean to you?
Football means so much to me. I started playing it when I was 7 years old and have enjoyed every minute of it. It teaches me so much about life and how to compete and have a "go get it" attitude. It also has brought me closer to Christ which is something I am very grateful for.
What schools have you talked to so far?
I went on a game day visit to the University of Illinois. I also went on a junior day to NIU and planned on going to one in Hillsdale but that one got cancelled. Illinois State invited me to spring ball which got cancelled. Northern Michigan and Morehead State have both offered me which I am extremely grateful for. University of Sioux falls has also reached out as well as a few of the ivies.
What should college coaches know about you?
They should know that I'm extremely hard working and committed. Coach cook has taught me what commitment is and how to be 100% fully committed to the game of football and to my fairh. I am also an extreme competitor and hate losing. They should know that when I get out on that field, I'm always ready to pour my heart out and complete
Who else on Chicago Christian should I be on the lookout for in 2020?
AJ Kuipers, Otto VanDellen, Matt Haan and Luke Jelderks. I would especially like to highlight AJ and Otto because they are in my class and we have played with each other for four years. Seeing how committed they are and how much they push me to be even better is awesome. They are also both really good football players on the field and even better men off the field. Those two are my brothers. Matt Haan and Luke Jelderks are both a class under me and this is only Luke's second year but he's been busting his butt to get better and expect some big things from him this season. Matt Haan is also one of my closest friends and an absolute force on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. I can talk about those guys all day
