Michael Alvarado Class of 2021 WR/ATH 5'10 160 Providence

Michael Alvarado how was your 2019 season?

My 2019 season was good as I caught around 30-40 passes. I had scored a touchdown in the first game of the season and our team had a winning record heading into the playoffs. In the playoffs I continued to catch multiple passes a game and helped lead our team to the 3rd round of the playoffs.

What was one of your favorite memories in 2019?

One of my favorite memories is when we upset number 2 ranked Crete-Monee in the playoffs. We scored drive after drive and put up 60 points on the score board. The atmosphere from the fans in the stands was unbelievable and truly made the game more exciting to play in.

What should college coaches know about you?

College coaches should know that I am hard worker and I make sure that no one will out work me on the field or in the classroom. My leadership on the field excels all others. I make sure that our team is well prepared and fight hard during the game. They should also know that I can burn defenders off the line and at the top of my route. My route running is great and I can run any route on the route tree.

How does Providence look for 2020?

We are looking to have another great year with a lot of key offensive players returning. We lost all of our offensive line but I am confident the seniors and juniors stepping up next year will fill in just fine. On the defensive side we had lost a lot of key players but we had depth from last year that are ready to step up and be the starters.

Toughest player you went up against in 2019?

The toughest player I had went up against would be Michael Gaughan for St. Rita. He’s a great player and gave us a good game against them this year.

What does football mean to you?

Football means everything to me. Ever since I started playing at a young age I learned quickly that I belong on the football field. Not only does football give me the chance to show my athletic ability, but it allows me to meet brothers that I will forever have a bond with. Football also allows me to have coaches that will teach me what it means to be a man in life.

What do you feel is your strongest trait on the field?

I feel that my strongest trait on the field is my leadership. If I see a teammate down in the huddle I make sure he picks his head up and is ready for the next play. I keep the team ready for what’s to come and I make sure I lead by example.

Who else on the team should I be on the lookout for?

Coaches should look out for Dakota Straight. He stepped in last year at safety as our starter had gotten hurt and had helped lead the defense all the way to the 3rd round of the playoffs.
