Ethan Potocki Class of 2021 Barrington DE 6'6 238

Ethan Potocki how was your 2019 season?
My 2019 season was a great learning experience and I chance to prove myself as a valuable asset to my team and coaches. I came into the season not being the strongest or fastest but I worked as hard as I could, and I had the will to win. I'm grateful that my coaches saw this in me and gave me the chance to play. Although I feel the season was a let down because of our round one playoff loss I think I learned many valuable life and football lessons. I never wanna feel that pain of losing like that in a crucial game, so it motivates me to work even harder. I'm also very grateful to my fellow d linemen Lukas Vanness (Iowa Commit) and Matt Reedy for really taking me under their wing to teach me what they know and make me feel a part of the team. To really wrap it all in one, I believe the season ,while not being a state championship win, was a great opportunity and I think I rose to the challenge and proved myself.
What does football mean to you?
Football is absolutely my passion. I started to play football in 7th grade and it turned my life around. I was not the smartest in elementary school or middle school but the self discipline i learned from football allowed me to change all aspects of my life. Without football I don't think I would be as great of a person.
What would you like college coaches to know about you?
I just want college coaches to know while I might not be the greatest athlete of all time, my willing to work hard and drive to win are what makes me great. I think given the chance I could be a great asset to any team as I continue to grow as a man and football player, developing my strength and on field IQ.
What do you like about playing in the trenches?
The best part of playing in the trenches is really getting the chance to see who’s the best. With skill positions you can get lucky but in the trenches there’s no messing around. Who ever wants it more is going to win simple as that.
Who else on Barrington should I be on the lookout for in 2020?
Well we got a lot of great players Evan Roper (LB) and Matt Blasius (C) have been getting recruited. As for people under the radar I think Bryan and Ryan Smith (RB and WR) are gonna have a statement season and Trevor Hutchinson (WR/TE) could be a big part of our offense this year.
