Connor Kelty Class of 2021 DT Wheaton Warrenville South 6'0 255

CBP: Connor Kelty how was your 2019 season?

CONNOR: In 2019 Overall It was a great year as a team and as an individual we finished with a 8-4 record going to the quarter finals. As an individual it went great, With exponential improvements from my sophomore year especially in the weight room and overall training, to get myself ready for a year on varsity. I had a great team around me that I trusted to get their job done as well as them having trust in me to stop any play coming in those middle gaps.

What does playing in those trenches mean to you?

Playing in the trenches for me isn’t a walk in the park, it’s a hard hitting play after play that for sure isn’t for the faint of heart. It requires a bulldog mentality to be able to put your hand in the dirt and tell your self “I’m going to beat this guy if it’s the last thing I do” that’s all that’s going through your mind. There’s nothing better than it, football isn’t football without the trenches.

What goal do you have for yourself this upcoming season?

My goals for this upcoming season as a team are to win a state championship with my amazing teammates and share that moment forever. As an individual I just want to focus on getting faster and stronger everyday to be able to play at a higher level than the year before. Im also going to work to be voted all conference and to be a force to be reckoned within the 2020 season. And finally to get the opportunity to play football at the next level whether that means Juco, NAIA, D3, D2 or even D1 I just want to continue to play ball and wherever that may be I’ll be proud to where that jersey.

What should college coaches know about you?

What College coaches should know is that I’m a worker, I will work and work and work just to be able to achieve my goal that I set out to achieve, even if that means making sacrifice wherever that may be. I also like to think of myself as a leader I’m consistently pushing others to help them go out and achieve their goals and dreams. And finally I just have a love for the game, football means everything to me, it’s an escape from everything that may not be going good in your life but football will always be there, you can’t think about life at home or anything else like that when you set out to achieve one common goal, becoming the absolute best person you can be on and off that field.

How does this WWS Squad look for 2020?

Our team coming in to the 2020 season is looking incredibly solid, with 7 out of 11 defensive players returning, 3 of them being on the defensive line alone we’re going to have that same 3 and out mentality going in to it like we did last year. Then over on the offensive side of the ball we have a phenomenal returning quarterback that can sling it but most definitely isn’t afraid to tuck it and run with it. As well as return of Kaleb Clousing and a few juniors to assist being lethal weapons for Parker Brown to utilize. Overall I’m very excited to get the season started and make a run.
