David Dorn QB Class of 2022 Wheaton Academy 5'11 165

Coach Big Pete's Take

David Dorn is an interesting recruit in the Class of 2022 QB crop. Good reads and steps infront of pressure to make the throw. Dorn's growth this season will be something to see.

David Dorn how was your 2019 season?

It was a season of mixed emotions. We had some success but we still have a lot of work to do. We fell just short of the playoffs. The playoffs will most definitely be one of the main goals for the upcoming season and is a goal that will be obtained.

Favorite memory of the 2019 season?

Being put into a leadership role in the middle of the season against a really tough opponent is definitely one of the most memorable things of my high school career thus far. My teammates stepped up at many points during the season due to injuries. Our team was able to adapt to different roles and positions, making our team better for the future.

What do you like about playing QB?

I enjoy leading especially when all of the pressure is on you. Also, I like helping my team in my role as quarterback. Football is the greatest game because it has numerous positions and each one has specific jobs that are critical to the success of a team.

What are your winter/spring plans?

I will be working by improving my strength physically and mentally. I also want to build on the chemistry I have with my teammates so we are ready for the season. I am playing basketball for Wheaton Academy now and hope to do track in the spring as well.

What do you feel is your strongest trait on the field?

Work ethic and drive...these are the only things I can control. I enjoy making people better around me by working hard and setting a good example. I am not only trying to improve myself but also my teammates who are working by my side.

What should college coaches know about you?

I am driven and love to compete. In the classroom and in sports, I want to be successful. My faith is also very important to me and is the foundation of my leadership and who I am as a person.

Who on Wheaton Academy is going to have breakout season in 2020?

Javonte Rucker and Peter Johanik; Javonte will be going into his senior year and was hurt all last year. Javonte has been working very hard since he got healthy. He is definitely someone to watch for. Peter is the center for our team and is 2022 like me. We grew a lot together last year and I am looking forward to playing with him next year.

What does football mean to you?

It means a lot to me and has definitely been an outlet for me. Football is the greatest test of who you are as a person in sports. I love every minute of it, from practice to the game field. Football means a lot but I know that God has given me the ability to play this sport. I hope to honor Him and ultimately point people towards Him through it.
