Daniel Jezik Class of 2020 Coal City ATH
Committed to Oklahoma State for Wrestling
Daniel Jezik how does it feel to be one of the top performing players in Illinois for the 2019 season?
It’s a great feeling especially because our team is also having an amazing season so it’s really shows that our team success doesn’t fall only on me, but the whole team, and how well we work together to be able to accomplish what we have. But definitely seeing myself in the top percentage of running backs this year really is humbling and it’s something that I’ve worked hard for all year so it feels that everything I’ve done to get to this point is really paying off.
What do you think has been your best game so far this season?
I would say the Bishop Mac game and not just because of stats and how it was my most yards in a game this season, but just the fact that at the time they were ranked 2 in the state and how I had to be mentally prepared for the game and keep that mental toughness that our coach always talks about, because having to push myself past my limits on both sides of the ball and special teams was a challenge, but I managed to get it done and do my job.
What schools have you talked to so far?
I’m actually currently committed to Oklahoma State for wrestling but I don’t plan for my football career to be over after high school.
What excites you about the upcoming wrestling season?
What excites me most is that it’s my senior season and that we have come so close as a team to win state, so being given another chance at winning that team state title in my senior year is a great feeling and hopefully we can get it done.
Who is the biggest eater on the Coaler team?
Honestly, the funny thing is, it would probably have to be me, and I’m sure my friends at lunch would tell you the same because I’m the one always asking for their extras and also my mom would say the same because she is always mad that I’m always spending way too much money on food. And coming in close second would have to be Blake Strnad.
