Michael Purkey Woodstock QB Class of 2020 6'3 195

Michael Purkey welcome back... How is your season going so far?

So far it hasn’t gone how we have liked it to. Right now we are 1-2, but us as a team know that we can definitely turn it around. We are better than the statistics show it has just been mental mistakes that have led to our losses. We are working even harder this week to make sure we end up on the right track.

What does this rivalry between Woodstock North mean to you?

It is a really fun time in all honesty. For me I grew up playing with all these guys on the same team and as friends we want to see each other do good, but in the end in my competitiveness makes me want to win. It is always an intense environment and ends up in a great game. In the end it is just another football game and I prepare the same as every other week.

What schools have you been talking to so far?

I have been in consistent communication with the coaches from Minnesota State University-Moorhead, Concordia University Wisconsin, Augustana College, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Illinois Wesleyan, University of Wisconsin-Platteville, and Knox College

What has been your favorite memory so far for this season?

My favorite memory was winning week 2 against Ottawa because that was our homecoming game and the blue streaks had not won in over 5 years. That was really special to us.

Who is one player on Woodstock that is having breakout season?

Defensively our ILB Alex Wojnicki. He has been flying around the field, causing turnovers, making clutch plays, and keeping us in the football game.

Give me one player on the Woodstock North that is going to give you guys problems Friday?

It is a hard decision between the Peña cousins. I think Elijah Peña will give us more problems due to his speed and playmaking abilities. Even though Woodstock North lost Zinnen I know that they haven’t lost much moving Elijah to quarterback.
