So in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for lllinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know , but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams. Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

Padraig Fitzgerald Class of 2021 QB Marmion Academy 6'1 170

Padraig Fitzgerald how does Marmion Academy look this season?

We aren’t returning very many starters this year but the guys who have come into starting positions have filled their roles very well. Our offense has some good speed in the backfield with Major Haas, Mike Gatze, and Gibson Marshall. Our defense has some young players but they can compete as they have some great talent. Overall, I think we can finish 6-3, maybe 5-4.

Favorite memory from 2018 campaign?

My favorite memory from 2018 campaign was pushing our Fenwick game until the final seconds with a lead changing touchdown pass that I threw.

How was your summer camp season?

My summer camp, I felt, went fairly well. The first week was just getting everyone back into the plays and the speed we needed to be at. After that it was all just improving and building as a team on and off the field.

What should college coaches know about you?

College coaches should know that I am an extremely committed person and will never be outworked. When a goal is set for me to accomplish, it will be done, regardless of circumstance. I’m also a very tough player. I’m willing to get back up after a big hit instead of taking the next play off. I also pride myself on being a great leader and having a great attitude with my teammates. I know how to push those around me to be better players.

Your strongest trait on the field is?

My strongest trait on the field is definitely my toughness and ability to play with the speed of the game. I love keeping the defense on edge with different snap counts and timing, as well as how quick we are getting up to the line.

What do you like about playing QB?

My favorite part about playing QB is being able to handle the ball on every play. I can have an impact on every single play of every single game. I also like the responsibility that comes with the position, I also e joy the pressure that comes with playing the position.

What part of your game did you improve in the offseason?

I tried to work on getting the ball out much faster so that the speed of a varsity defense wouldn’t have an effect on me. I also worked on speed and agility a lot to be able to have my athleticism play a part in my overall effectiveness. I also put a good amount of time towards flexibility and making sure I’ll be able to play through the entire season with close to no tight muscles or uncomfortable positions.

What goals do you have for yourself this upcoming season?

I’m hoping I can lead our team back into the playoffs both of my years playing on varsity. We have never gone two years without making the playoffs and this wont be the first time we do. I do not have any set passing goals as I’m alright just playing with the flow of the game, and if that means winning games running the ball then that is what I’m okay with.

Who else on Marmion Academy should I be on the lookout for?

Upperclassmen who you should be on the lookout for would be Major Haas, Mike Gatze, Gibson Marshall, and especially Brandon Bryan at center. He put a lot of work in in the offseason with putting on weight and lifting and should be a great player this year up front. We also have a great set of underclassmen playing with us this season. The most notable is Dane Pardridge at wide receiver. He is an extremely athletic sophomore who has the ability to have a big name in the recruiting circuit after this season. Another great player for us this year who is an underclassmen will be Jacob Bottarini. He will be playing linebacker for us and is a great leader, even being a sophomore.
