Batavia's 6'6 TE Drew Iutzwig Takes Some Time To Talk Recruiting & Upcoming Season

So in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for lllinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know , but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams. Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

Drew Iutzwig Batavia 6'6 235 TE/ATH Class of 2020

Drew Iutzwig how has your summer been?

Summer has been great, it feels good to be back on the field with my brothers competing and building our team.

How has your recruiting been going?

Recruiting has been going good, have lots of interest from schools most of them are waiting to see more game film because my injury last year so I have no junior year film. As of now I have two offers from Valparaiso and Georgetown.

What does football mean to you?

Football especially at Batavia is a community, since you are in elementary school the program makes you feel like a true bulldog and you look up to the older guys every year. It’s more than a game when you get to wear the uniform you are representing more than the name on the back you get to represent a whole town every week on Friday nights.

What part of your game have you been working on in the offseason?

I’ve been working on getting my knee back to full strength and my quickness off the ball. I had 5 months of physical therapy 3 times a week and also had other training and now my knee feels better than before and I have no worries about it going into the season.

What should college coaches know about you?

College coaches should know that I’m a competitor and will do whatever it takes to win, I’ll find my role on the team weather that’s a leader or a role player and push everyone including myself to get better. Because there is no better feeling than going into the locker room after the fourth quarter to celebrate a win with your brothers.

What game are you most looking forward to this season?

Week one against East St. Louis, they have great players and are a great program. Everyone’s looking at us as an underdog in that game but we aren’t worried about that, we are a team that will grind out the whole game and do what it takes to win. They might have the speed and athleticism on us in some parts of the game but when it comes down to it and we put on the pads we are the most physical team in the state I believe and by the end of the game they won’t want to get hit anymore.

Remember Deep Dish Football Is Just Not About Recruiting But About The Love Of The Game Of IHSA Football

RESPECT THE GAME
