Usman Naviwala how was your 2018 season?

As a team we didn’t do as great as we wanted to but I feel like we built a great foundation for next season. For me, I personally feel like I did pretty good but felt like I could do a lot better. This season I mainly played MLB but eventually was blessed enough to play/learn all three linebacker positions and even had a play made specially for me which was great. As well as playing every special team was something I really enjoyed.

What was one of your favorite memories last season?

My favorite memory was definitely the game we played Plainfield Central. I remember before the game me and the guys were blasting goofy music in my car and getting hyped for the game, then going on to play one of the best games in our high school careers. Nothing will ever beat that feeling I had after the clock hit 0 and the fans stormed the field.

What part of your game have you been working on in the offseason?

I’ve really been working on my footwork and gaining more speed. As well as getting my drops and mobility the best I can. Pretty soon I’m gonna start doing more hitting drills on my own time to make sure I’m able to come up and run through people.

What does football mean to you?

To me football is more then just a sport, it’s my lifestyle. Football means everything to me. Since I was in middle school I would get to the buses early just so I could look over the hill and see the high school team practice for a few minutes. Football has taught me so much these last 4 years, not only how to be a great young man but how to manage time and stay healthy. Cause of football I have a great friend group who I know have my back and I have theirs. The amount of great memories I have with this game is unbelievable.

What goal do you have for yourself this season?

I have multiple goals set up for this season. To have 90+tackles,5+ sacks, and a pick. As well as I want to go to playoffs so I’m going to do everything in my power to make sure that happens.

What is your strongest on-field trait?

My strongest trait on the field is my determination to win every rep. I play my hardest from whistle to whistle. As well as being able to play multiple positions and learn/pick up on offensive plays and each players weaknesses.
