Lucas Althaus Class of 2021 Tight End 6'6 200 Ridgewood (AlWood/Cambridge Co-op)
Lucas Althaus how was your 2018 season?
It was a very fun year for the team as well as myself. This was my second year playing varsity on both sides of the ball at Tight End and Defensive End, and it was definitely a season to remember. I also played quarterback at the JV level because of lower numbers and injuries in the program. I was very happy with my season and how it went, but I know I am capable of doing much more. Moving on to my Junior year I really look to dominate the competition on both sides of the ball, as well as open the eyes of recruiters. I have been working extremely hard this offseason and I am beyond excited for what the 2019 season holds for the Ridgewood Spartans as well as myself.
What should college coaches know about you?
College coaches should know that I am a competitor and an extremely hardworking person. I strive to not let a single person outwork me in everything I do, on and off the field. I also work extremely hard in the classroom, making sure my grades are always high. At 6’6”, I am extremely athletic (also being a 3 sport athlete) and I am always willing to compete against the best.
How does Ridgewood look this season?
This group that we have coming in for the 2019 season is extremely experienced. We have lots of leaders in our senior class that will definitely help our team during the season. I also see our group as extremely athletic, competitive, and full of depth, which will really help during the season and give us an advantage. Coming off a great season last year, our confidence is high as a team and we look to do even better this year.
Who else on Ridgewood should I keep an eye out for?
Definitely two of our upcoming seniors, Cade Franks and Logan Nodine. They are both very talented at the running back and quarterback positions, as well as on defense. They are great leaders on the field and will play a big role on friday nights. I am excited to get to play alongside them in this upcoming season.
What does your college summer camp schedule look like?
I actually just got back a couple weeks ago from the Polynesian Bowl National Combine and Showcase in Las Vegas, as well as the Nike: the opening camp in St. Louis, both of which I was invited to. Some of the camps I am looking to attend include Iowa State, Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, and the Adidas Rivals Camp in St. Louis.
What game excites you the most this upcoming season?
I am definitely looking forward to playing Mid-County week 3. After a close, tough loss to them last season we are definitely looking to bounce back and show them what we can do as a team.
