Brian Smith Class of 2021 Homewood-Flossmoor OL/DT 6'0 260

Brian Smith how was your 2018 season?

It was going well until i broke my ankle in the 4th game against Bolingbrook. After my injury and the rest of the sophomore team getting injured or pulled to varsity there were few wins. And adding to my injury, I was out the grind for 19 weeks then i was finally able to start wrestling and i was in practice for the last two weeks and my coach allowed me to wrestle in the conference tournament and I ended up taking second place. Then I went on to sectionals taking 3rd, two weeks later I took second at regionals which brought me the fresh/soph state tournament where i won my first match then lost my second two. While not placing at state i gained alot of information to better my self and make a better wrestler for my junior year.

What is the toughest part about being out with a injury during the season?

Watching the team go through rough patches and theres not much you can do to get the team to pick up the slack.

What motivates a Brian Smith?

My family motivates me most. My mom tries to make every game I have and moves things around to be able to attend my games, and my grandpa has been there through everything he would be sick and still make it to my activities and since he passed away a year ago now ik that he is watching me and wants me to do my best and try my hardest at everything I do.

What should college coaches know about you?

I am willing to do what ever is best for the team. If the coach would rather me play linebacker or even running back ill learn the position to better the team and get the job done

How is your Lacrosse season going?

Its going well i am 2nd string on varsity and start on jv and we just took a 6 to 7 win over Latin Romans in overtime

What goal do you have for yourself this season?

This season i would like to better my self as a player and a person. I would also love to beat our rivals Lincoln Way East and take the team down state. Even if we dont win i would love the experience for the following year. While also gaining as much knowledge as possible and combine it to make my own way to be the best me I can.

What do you like about playing in the trenches?

The best part is when you are fighting with your 4 other linemen and develop an unbreakable brotherhood that you can take forth to battle the other team, and knowing that your brothers have your back on and off the field is one of the best feelings only the trenchmen will know.
