Robby Issacs how was your 2018 season?
It was great. Our team had a really strong bond and made it to the second round of playoffs. It was awesome to finally see everything come together and turn around our last 2-7 season. Our coaches had a great game plan and we had no holes at any position, it was truly the best team I have ever been apart of and I am even more excited for this season.
What excites you the most about the upcoming season?
It is our senior season. I am most excited about the level of competition in our new conference. My teammates and I have been looking forward to this season ever since we were kids and now it’s finally here. This offseason the entire team has been working hard in the weight room to be ready for the season.
Would you say Yorkville football program is on the rise?
Yes, the culture on and off the field is intensifying and everyone knows it. We are working to make winning a habit and build off of last year for an even greater season. Coach McGuire and our weight room coach, Coach Schmitt tell us everyday that we need to work harder than the man next to us to build something great for the years to come.
What goal do you have for yourself this season?
As the only returning starting offensive lineman, it is to be a role model for the rest of my teammates. I plan on continuing to lead by example on and off the field for the younger guys. I will end up playing offensive and defensive line this year and show out on the field.
What does your summer college camp schedule look like?
I plan on attending camps for Augustana, Monmouth, Hillsdale, Case-Western Reserve, Rose-Hulman, St. Ambrose and I will most likely attend the North Central camp. I also hope I can make it out to a camp for Pomona-Pitzer College.
What is one game that you wish you could schedule against Yorkville?
I wish we could schedule against Dekalb this year. Last year our team was not playing to our full potential against them and I believe that if we played them again the result would be different.
