Jake Holten Collinsville WR/DB Class of 2020 5'10 187

Jake Holten how was your 2018 season?

Overall the culture of the program really showed significant change. The guys were buying in and we’re devolving a special chemistry. We didn’t hit our ideal goal, but its all a process and we are willing to do whatever is necessary to make strides. Personally, having two solid years under my belt, has helped me develop a confidence level that makes me very optimistic for my upcoming season.

What should college coaches know about you?

College coaches should know that I am a positive impact in developing a culture. I will buy In and lead by example. With my work ethic, I can help push other guys to their limits and bring the best out of them. On the field, my mental understanding of the game gives me an advantage in understanding the defenders thought process so I can counter and make a play. I focus on precise routes and use my body to help gain separation and put myself in a position to make a play. I am also willing to do whatever it takes in the weight room; this offseason, I have put on 20 pounds of muscles as well as working on agility and mobility.

What excites you the most about this upcoming season?

I am very excited about the energy that comes with this upcoming season. I’m excited to know that I have brothers and a coaching staff that have the same goal in mind. The fact that the team is eager to get on the field whenever possible shows that we’ve really bought into the process. Our program is typically known for not being successful, and that drives us to make a run. Personally, I look forward to showing colleges that I am capable of making an impact at the next level through my play. Overall our team has a year of chemistry under our belt which allows us to implement more plays which is exciting.

What game are looking most forward to this upcoming season?

We are looking forward to the 10th game, playoffs. This goal will drive us through the season.

What does your college camp schedule look like?

It’s a very busy summer. I plan on attending SEMO, Illinois st, Indiana st, Murray state, Mizzou, and Northwestern’s camp. Also I will be attending the Lindenwood showcase and other schools that show interest.

What does Collinsville football mean to you?

Collinsville football is my roots. Instead of taking an easy way out and transferring to a more successful program, I see it as a chance to be apart of something special as we turn this program around and I can’t be more excited.

Remember Deep Dish Football Is Just Not About Recruiting But About The Love Of The Game Of Football In The IHSA
