How was your 2018 season?

The 2018 season was really exciting for me, I started at linebacker and guard on the sophomore team and was pulled up to start at linebacker for a of couple games on Varsity.  As a team, we really came together and showed a lot of growth from freshman year.  We had a great coaching staff who really helped us develop as players and made sure we were prepared week in and week out.

Favorite memory of 2018?

I have two actually. The first was when Coach Doll had me pulled from of the sophomore game at halftime to play in the varsity game that night.  I was honored to take part in the varsity victory over Palatine. The second was beating Maine South to win the conference championship. This win proved we were able to rise to a high level of competition.

What does football mean to you?

I have been playing tackle football since I was five years old.  Football, to me is more than just a game.  have learned how: to compete, to lead, to follow, to push others and myself. I have learned the value of practice and sacrifice. Football has made me a better person, it has taught me the importance of brotherhood, discipline and responsibility.  I am lucky to have developed positive relationships with my teammates and coaches; my football family means a great deal to me.

What should college coaches know about you?

I would like college coaches to know that my biggest assets are my physicality, leadership, and knowledge of the game.  I am known for my toughness and big hits; I am able absorb contact to fend off bigger lineman. I have great instincts that allow me to read quickly while on the move to get to the ball.  I am a leader on and off the field. I have an unwavering commitment and I encourage others to be their best and give their all.

What goal do you have for yourself this season?

I want to continue to develop my speed with my reads so I can be more explosive and attack the ball.  Two ways I am working towards these goals is by maintaining my commitment to my strength and speed training as well as studying film to help me think critically about the game.

What game are most excited about this season?

The most anticipated game for this upcoming year will be against the defending state champions, Loyola. The sophomore team lost one game the entire 2018 season; it was against Loyola by only a field goal in the last 30 seconds of the game. We are ready for revenge.

What part of your game have you been trying to improve in the offseason?

As I mentioned earlier, as part of my work to accomplish my goals for this season, I have been dedicated to building muscle, speed, and endurance.  I am fortunate to have committed strength and conditioning coaches who have guided and supported my efforts.  People will see a stronger, faster, more explosive linebacker.

What do you like about playing linebacker?

I love to hit! Without question, there is no better position on the field if you want contact.  As a  linebacker, I am involved in every play, run and pass. I also love the way this pushes me to think about the game.

What player on New Trier do you think is going to have an impactful season?

I think there are a few players to look out for this season.  Our beast left tackle David Davidkov, our long snapper Jackson Schmelter, and wide receiver Avery Chatterton.
