Conor Kovas Joliet Catholic Class of 2020 OL 6'2 280

Conor Kovas how was your 2018 season?

My 2018 season was great, although I did struggle at times early in the season the senior offensive linemen really took me under their wing and guided me through the season.

How helpful is that to have that type of senior leadership?

It was amazing having seniors next to me the whole season working with me.Teammates like Ty O’Janovac Ryan Lauly always made it clear to me they weren’t frustrated with me, they just wanted to help me. That was just such a great example set for me, so that I can become a better leader for my team next year.

What would you like college coaches to know about you?

I would like college coaches to know that I am a dedicated, coachable player and at the end of the day your never going to have to worry about my work ethic.

What does your college camp schedule look like?

I’m attending the lindenwood camp May 31 and don’t have any invites so far.

What does it mean to you to play for Joliet Catholic?

Joliet Catholic has a lot of meaning to me, the tradition of winning was what made me want to come to the school than I soon realized that the friendship and bonds with my teammates mean a lot more to me

You guys lose to Nazareth in the regular season but win out and the state title... What gave you guys the motivation?

As a team we never worried about last week we always moved forward and got prepared in practice to beat the team we had in front of us. And if we had a bad game we would walk out of it hungry. As an o-line unit we always made sure we were aware of our responsibilities for the game in front of us, because our running and trapping game is one of the most important parts of our offense.

What does "senior season" mean to you?

Senior season to me means that it’s my last opportunity to put the brown and white on and leave everything on the field with my brothers. Sure we did lose a lot of seniors but that just means leaders need to emerge. The seniors leaving and showing a great example made us as underclassman stronger, although they did such a great job showing us how to play with everything we got. I’m ready to do that with my brothers, one last time.

Who on Joliet Catholic should I keep an eye out for this upcoming season that is going to make a huge impact in 2019?

I feel that you should keep an eye out for Jabril Williams he has a lot of talent and never disappoints in the weight room. He’s a younger kid with a really big heart for the game.
