So in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for lllinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know , but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams. Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

Declan Callahan St. Ignatius LB Class of 2020 6'2 180

Declan how was your 2018 season?

My 2018 was fun. The team this year was talented and really fun to be around. We had a tough loss in the playoffs and the prep bowl so I think we left a lot out on the table as a team. I think my junior year went really well and I think I have grown a lot as a player since my sophomore year.

Favorite memory from last season?

My favorite memory from last year was when we played Fenwick. The game got delayed and we ended up going out and winning in a big rivalry game and it was a big team shut out victory from our defense.

What should college coaches know about you?

College coaches should know I love to compete and win. Growing up with a big family we were always competing with each other. Also coaches should know that education is important to me in a school.

What have you been working on in the offseason to better yourself for the upcoming season?

This offseason I’ve been working to make my field speed a little bit faster like my upfield and lateral movements as well as my overall strength and weight.

What game are most looking forward to this upcoming season?

I think our rematch against our rivals fenwick. It’s the last game of the year and a rivalry game which is also our senior night. It should be a tough and good game to watch.

What do you think a common misconception about St. Ignatius football is?

A lot of people like to think that st. Ignatius football is garbage and that we stink but really we play hard. We have a lot of talent and don’t care who we play each week we compete and in recent years it’s been showing.

Who is the funniest player on the roster?

We got some pretty funny guys on the team but The funniest guy on our team is probably Charlie Frantz. He’s a goofball

Who are some young St.Ignatius players I should keep an eye out for?

Look out for two of our guys in the secondary. E.J. Teleriko and Leo Rugai. Both juniors who are fast and tough kids who play hard and like to compete and win.

Remember Deep Dish Football Is Just Not About Recruiting But About The Love Of The Game Of Football In The IHSA
