Vaughn Black HAASAP Class of 2020 WR/DB 6'0 160
Vaughn Black how was your 2018 season?
It was great but I thought I could have done better. I go to Schlarman Academy in Danville, Illinois. We Coop with Hoopeston Area High School. Our team is HASAAP. (Hoopeston Area-Schlarman Academy-Armstrong Potomac). I had 540 All-purpose yards and 7 touchdowns. Also got all county all conference
What was your favorite memory from last season?
Probably getting notice by the news about my game against Westville. I had 172 yards and 3 touchdowns getting the helmet sticker from Colin Likas
How is basketball season going?
Going good. Our team has improved from the beginning to now. We are young team with only 1 senior so we are doing well for this season. Looking forward to regionals
What would you like college coaches to know about you?
First that I have good grades. I have a 3.5 GPA and I take the ACT in April and the SAT. Second that I will try my very hardest every play and commit my life to playing football. Football has been life since kindergarten and I’ve always wanted to play football in college and I want to make that dream a reality
What do you like about playing WR?
I love making big plays to hype my team up. Wide receiver puts me on an island with one person trying to stop me. I was originally a halfback, then I decide to play Wide Receiver in 8th grade and did pretty well and it stuck with me
What does football mean to you?
Literally mean everything to me. My family loves me playing it. Really means a lot when my mom can come to my games. My mom has Stage 4 Colorectal Cancer that has moved to her liver, and just means the world to me that she can watch me.
How does HASAAP look this coming season?
We are looking very competitive. The last couple seasons we have not been good. This season I have faith that the seniors will step it up. My quarterback, Marcus Blurton I have played football with since kindergarten we have loved for so long that we don’t want to have a bad season. People are lifting I’m lifting. This season should be very competitive
Favorite route to run?
Hard question. Probably slant or the post route. I love coming in the inside to make plays
