Trey Shaw Wilmington Class of 2021 ATH 5'8 177

Trey Shaw how was your 2018 season?
We had a good season coming out at 6-3 my teammates were super helpful with the transition to varsity. My season was cut short do to a minor injury. But my teammates finished out the season well we just came up short in the playoffs. But we’re all looking forward to next season.
How does Wilmington look for the 2019 season?
We’re looking pretty good. We have many returning starters, so there will be a lot of experience on the field. We have a lot of people in the weight room already getting ready for the upcoming season. We just need to stay disciplined and I believe we will be a tough one to beat.
What game are you the most excited about in the 2019 season?
I’m excited for the first two games Evergreen Park and Oak Lawn. It will be good to play against bigger schools and we will get more experience out of those games. And the Coal City game is the most exciting because there’s so much preparation and it’s a big rival game.
What did Conner Dempsay mean your guys team who will be graduating this spring?
Conner was an awesome player and even greater teammate. He’s helped out the program a lot these past few years. But everyone knows we need to step up, make plays, and try to take on that leadership role just as well as he did.
That has been Wilmington's bread and butter... Two guys graduated underclassmen step up. Why do you think Wilmington is so good at that?
It’s honestly the coaching. Coach Reents, Southall, and Murphy have been doing this for so long it pays off. From the first day of camp there is high expectation that all the players want to live up to. But also we have players in the weight room in the winter and everyone is motivated to play two to three sports. So I believe that’ll play a factor for us too
What goal do you have for yourself this season?
I honestly just want to stay healthy. And break the 1000 yard marker rushing this season
Give me some Wilmington players to look out for in the 2019 season?
Anthony Meyers, Jake Rodawold, Keaton Hopwood, Cam Holman, and Hunter Doherty are all good players coming out in 2019
