Meet Deerfield's Class Of 2020 Defensive End Colin Ward - Someone You Should Know

So in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know , but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams

Colin Ward Deerfield Class of 2020 DE/ER 6'4 200

Coach Big Pete's Take

Colin Ward is intriguing recruit for the Class of 2020 at the end spot. Tall frame, fast off the snap and is utilized off of a 2 and 4 point stance which is always a plus at that position. Scary part is he will only get better in the coming years, has a tremendous upside. Will be a bigger name coming up the spring into the summer recruiting period.

Colin Ward how was your 2018 season?

It was a lot of fun and i thought overall it was a big success despite what our record says. We were right there to win all of our games besides our last and as a team we really grew throughout the year. A lot of our returning players being juniors this year gives us a huge advantage. We’ve developed a lot of chemistry and we’re really excited for next year

What was your favorite memory?

Our Highland Park game. It got moved up that day because of weather coming in so that threw us off, but we were very prepared for that game and dominated four quarters. We came in as huge underdogs and no one expected us to win much less compete. Celebrating with the team and the student section is something I’ll never forget.

What would you like college coaches to know about you?

I’ve always been able to step up to the next level and succeed. I won’t let anyone on the field stop me from what I’m trying to do. I will put in the work and the time to do what it takes for my team to succeed.

What do you like about playing on the defensive line?

You’re on the front lines, always hitting, being aggressive, and in the mix for almost every play. It allows me to use my speed and my power.

What schools have you talked to?

None yet

What does football mean to you?

Football has been my life for almost as long as i can remember. As a kid that’s all I would play and I’m obsessed with it. Everything i step onto the field I feel at home and ready to do what I do

What are you doing in the offseason to better yourself for the fall?

I’m playing basketball right now for our varsity team so that helps a lot with my speed, quickness, and agility. I keep up with my lifting as well. Once basketball ends I’m doing outside speed training and really getting lifting and focusing on getting bigger, stronger, and faster.
