Lincoln Way East's Junior Sean McLaughlin 6'7 Athlete Talks Recruiting & Football

So in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know , but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams

Sean McLaughlin Class of 2020 ATH/DE/TE 6'7 230 Lincoln Way East

Sean McLaughlin what schools have you been talking to?

I am very early in my recruitment because I have been invited to like a junior day at Miami of Ohio but there have been some schools that my high school coach set me up with that will keep tabs on me over the off season and during the upcoming year! Some include: Iowa, West Virginia, Michigan State, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Illinois. These are not all but some of the ones that stood out!

What would you like college coaches to know about you?

I would like colleges to know that I’m a very dynamic player and will do anything it takes for our team to win. I can play offense or defense. I will never give up on the coach I am playing for and I may not be the most talented guy or strongest but I’m going to do whatever it takes to be on top. Losing is not an option for me. Also, I see myself as a leader no matter what sport or aspect of life I’m in! Leading is in my blood. Most importantly though I want college coaches I am 100% committed to the vision that they have. On the field I’m probably one of the smartest ones out there and figure out a way to get it done!

What position do you feel most comfortable in?

Thats a really tough question I feel that Tight End is my position but Defensive End is the one that is my calling if I work at it I feel I can be one of the best in the state! I honestly fell equally as comfortable at both

What was one of your favorite memories last season?

It’s hard to have a favorite memory from last season because of the way it ended but probably the best memory I had was playing glenbard West and absolutely destroying them because they are one of the most storied programs in the state and being able to play exceptional well in all 3 phases of the game was truly a fantastic moment not to mention The ride home when one of my teammates dads bought us pizza just for the defensive bus and it was just a great day

Who are some young LWE players I should be on the lookout for?

Ohhhh!!! wow there is a long list of names. Jamal johnson Payton Orth Alex Stepenski Jack Tremblay Ryan Stewart

Those are just some of the Few that stood out during the playoffs that have legitimate possibility of starting this year as juniors

Biggest obstacle for you guys this upcoming season?

The biggest obstacle this season is figuring out that we will not have the big stars on the team we don’t have Baltz, Ritter, Shelton or Scianna! We need a fully committed team and group effort every game when that happens the stars on our team are going to shine bright!!! If we get going there will be nobody that can stop us! But if we think that we will roll every team just because we are Lincoln way east then it will be a long year

What does football mean to you?

Football means the world to me because it allows me to be myself and have a true bond with my brothers no matter what happens in life it creates an everlasting bond that can never be broken. It means that I am able to play a sport that some people aren’t able to play. Football is a sport that brings a community together and being able to be the center of that community is one of my biggest childhood dreams! Football most importantly means that I am able to do something I love with my brothers that I love, and play for my family that I love and being in the center of a community that I love!

COACH BIG PETE'S FINAL TAKE

Sean McLaughlin is one of the most intresting recruits in the Class of 2020. He can be utilized on the college scene in many different ways. Over that mark of 6'4 at DE/TE, and very athletic he will be on top of a lot of recruiters must have list.

Remember Deep Dish Football Is Just Not About Recruiting But About The Love Of The Game Of Football In The IHSA
