Meet Class Of 2020 Downers Grove South's DE/ATH Alex Rapinchuk

So in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know , but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams

Alex Rapinchuk Class of 2020 DGS DL/TE 6'2 200

Alex Rapinchuk favorite memory last season?

My favorite memory of last season would definitely be our homecoming win against Addison Trail. That game was exciting from the beginning all the way until the end. Our offense had an excellent drive late in the 4th quarter and scored to secure the victory in the end. I think this game really taught us how to play competitively and consistently as a team. Plus it was really a turning point in our season when as a team we came together and started to play to our potential.

How does Downers South football look for the 2019 Season?

I think Downers South is definitely a team to watch for in 2019. We have a good group of incoming players in the class of ‘21 not to mention a good group of returners who are hungry after falling short last season. Collectively as a team we’re ready to do whatever it takes to bring home conference championship and have a deep run in the playoffs.

Biggest obstacle for you guys next season?

An obstacle for us this year will just be keeping everyone healthy. Unfortunately the past few seasons we’ve lost key players to injury. This is definitely an area that we hope to avoid in the 2019 season.

What is one goal you have yourself in this offseason?

This off-season I will be focusing on improving my speed and putting on muscle. These are two areas that I feel I need focus on the most for a successful 2019 season. My goal is to get my weight up to 210-215 throughout our offseason lifting program and to improve on my speed/quickness and overall agility throughout a speed training program I’ve been using for some time now.

What would you like college coaches to know about you?

Something I think college coaches should know about me is that I value a strong work ethic and I truly believe that that is the most important quality a player/person can have not only on the field but also in the classroom and in life in general. I also am someone who tries my best to lead my teammates through my not only my words but also my actions on and off the field.

Who is a young and upcoming mustang on the roster?

Upcoming Mustang: Cole Warehime
