Peyton Brown to me is one of top 5 QBs in the Class of 2019 for Illinois. Got injured during the season, but I believe who ever gets this kid is getting a steal. Competitor who will return to the field better than ever, and not to mention a high character kid.
Peyton Brown how was your senior season?
Not how I expected, but I learned more than I would imagine. I tore my ACL in the first game of the year after I tore my labrum my junior year. My brother ended up stepping in my position so it was a very cool experience to coach him
Now how great is it to have your brother backing you up, and later taking over for you?
I definitely think he was very overlooked this year. He’s learned so much this year and it’s only his 3rd year playing football so the sky is the limit. He’s shaping up to have a monster senior season. It was an awesome experience helping him not only on the field but at home and getting that extra work in
What do you think your brother's greatest strength?
Honestly, he’s got a lot to bring to the table. But something that really stood out to me was his long ball got so much better as the season went on. He brings a different element that I had because he is definitely a little bit faster than me so designed runs for him we’re successful
What advice would you give to a player that gets injured and is out for a season?
I would say definitely stay involved. When I tore my labrum my junior year, I got depressed and I found my self drifting away from the team. But this time around I said “you know what, this is my team and I’m going to lead in a different way”. That helped me mentally because I was able to be someone who they looked up to and someone who they can talk to. Thankfully I’m blessed to still be playing at the next level. But staying involved is huge for not only the team but personally.
What colleges have you talked so far?
I’ve been in contact with a bunch of schools who have been visiting North. Very excited to have the opportunity to play at the next level
What was your favorite memory this season?
Man there’s a bunch. Personally being in the tunnel for my first varsity start was an unreal feeling. As a team, I would say when the students stormed the field after the East game, watching the live stream after my surgery of the Normal Community game and watching my brother and the boys dominate, being in the press box for the Rolling Meadows game and seeing what it’s like to be a coach up there, and beating Mount Carmel and seeing the whole community come together and support us. The city of St. Charles lit one of the towers blue to support us on our journey to state. This season was so memorable and it is something I will never forget.
