Sunday Chat With Highland Park QB Class Of 2019 Michael Rooney Someone You Should Know

So in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know , but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams.

Michael Rooney Class of 2019 QB Highland Park 6'1 190

Michael Rooney how was your season?

Season was great I had a lot of fun and I learned a lot. I felt that I was effective running The ball when I was given the chance too. Throwing wise I could have done better. I passed for over 1,000 yards but I know it should have been more. As the season went on I became more and more comfortable in the pocket delivering passes. I wish as a team we got into play offs and would still be playing now. We had a lot of talented this year and I know we were better than our record shows.

What would you like college coaches to know about you?

Yes. After this year I realized how much I love playing football and how much I want to play at the next level. Being on a football team is the greatest thing to be apart of. I hope college coaches know that I work hard in practice and on my own to compete to at the next level

What does football mean to you?

Football means everything each year with new team with new guys is a new family. Not trying to be cliche but it’s the truth. I’ll remember everyone of my teammates on each year I played. It keeps me focused on what’s important. And teaches me disciplined. I couldn’t imagine myself not playing

What was your favorite memory this season?

First game of the season. Beating Libertyville. That was my first win being the qb for varsity and the game was back and fourth the entire time. It felt so good to win because no one believed we were besides the team

What is one thing you thought you improved on this season?

Throwing from the pocket. Each game I gained confidence

What would you tell a Highland Park student who is leaning on the fence to join Highland Park Football?

I would tell that person he has to be 100 percent committed to the team otherwise he’s going to hate it. And to push the person to make the decision to play I would tell them that being on a football team is a once in a life time experience.

Remember Deep Dish Football Is Just Not About Recruiting But About The Love Of The Game Of Football In The IHSA

RESPECT THE GAME
