Evanston's DB/ATH Michael Axelrood Talks Senior Season & Evanston Starting Off 2-0

So in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know , but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams.

Michael Axelrood Class of 2019 Evanston DB 6'2 185

Michael Axelrood how do you think you did Friday night against Taft?

We played well. We came out and had two quick TD strikes then had to wait out a 90 minute rain delay. We responded well though and the starters were able to sit after the first half.

Done with 2 weeks of football, How good can this Evanston team be?

We have lots of potential to make some noise. We have lots of play makers who want to win. We just have to continue to get better week by week and maintain our focus and good things will happen.

What schools have you been talking to?

I've been in contact with schools all over the spectrum. I have offers from Indiana State, San Diego, Dayton, Valparaiso, and Morehead State. I've visited Northwestern, Cincinnati, Ball State, Miami OH, Holy Cross and some Ivy League schools. I'm talking to most of the schools I've visited along with some other schools in the FCS all across the country.

What should college coaches know about you?

I'm a hard worker and I love to compete. I'm passionate about getting better every day in every way that I can. I'm a leader and I'm crazy about playing football.

What players on Evanston have impressed you after 2 games?

All of them have impressed me. They've all come out hungry and competitive and we compete to make every play. We feed off each other's energy and have intense practices.

Toughest WR that you have faced so far?

I can't pinpoint one wide receiver but Barrington had a good air attack my sophomore year. They had speed and size and they're among the best I've faced.

What does football mean to you?

Football is a lifestyle for me. I do everything I can to get better. I eat right, study the game, and work out hard in order to get better. I think about it every hour of the day. There's no sport like it and I'm going to enjoy these next Friday nights as much as I can while I still have them.
