So in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know , but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams
Brendon Pollard 5'9 190 Lemont Linebacker Class of 2019
Brandon Pollard how does Lemont football look this season?
I think that this season we are a very strong group of kids that have a ton of passion for the game. We have size where its needed and speed where it is needed. Many people that know the atmosphere and know what is needed to win.
What is the first thing that comes in mind when I say Batavia Football?
Revenge. Personally I got hurt with a bad concussion during that game last year which made me miss 4 weeks of the season. Ever since it has been a game to look forward too since Batavia is such a strong program. Going up against competition like that makes me want to win even more, and I cant wait
What does Lemont football mean to you?
Its everything. Starting to play for the Lemont hornets when i was in 2nd grade and watching the games from the hill on the side of the bleachers to playing in that stadium for those young guys like me is great. The whole town knows about Lemont football and everyone wants us to go as far as possible each season. Its amazing having a whole town behind you playing on friday nights, gives you something extra to play for.
What would you like college coaches to know about you?
I understand the game of football very well and always know what every position on the defense needs to do each play. I like to be a leader on and off the field for my teammates. Im very vocal on the field and i play with so much intensity no matter what the situation is.
Give me a player on Lemont that college coaches should be taking a look at?
Frankie Montalto and Anthony Sambucci are both very special kids. Frankie is a 2019 outside linebacker for us but has the speed to play DB in college. Very strong kid and plays faster than any of us on the defense. He is very physical and would excel at the next level. Anthony is one of the best 2020 wrs in the state. He is very tall and fast and has crazy hands. His routes are his best friend because he can loose any corner that tries to guard him because of how fast he cuts. He will blow up this year for sure.
What goal do you have for yourself this season?
This will be my last year playing football so i just want to enjoy it. I want to look back with no regrets from any game and be the best i can be. I want to help my teammates go even farther than we went last year and i want to help the younger kids learn more and more as we go throughout our season.
Toughest QB you faced last season?
Sebastian Castro and J’Bore Gibbs were both huge threats at all times. If we locked up the wide receivers it was just as dangerous to let them out of the pocket and run. Both are playing football in college and were very smart players on the field.
