Ryan Cekay Class of 2019 WR 6'4 198 Lake Forest
COACH BIG PETE'S TAKE
Ryan Cekay is the only recruit at WR from the 2019 Class of Illinois that can fit all of the College schemes that are played in this era. Cekay has the frame, speed, and to mention ability to run great routes is what makes him special.
Ryan Cekay what schools have you been talking to?
I’ve been talking mostly with ivy leagues. Specifically Harvard and Cornell. I’ve also seen some attention from Duke, NIU, and Purdue just recently. I see a lot of attention from Patriot league schools like Lafayette, Colgate, Lehigh, and Fordham as well.
Favorite memory from last season?
I think beating Zion Benton in the final few minutes. Our RB transferred from Zion and it felt good to get the leading touchdown against them and show him that Lake Forest Football was good switch for him.
What have you been doing in the offseason to improve yourself for the upcoming season?
I switched from baseball to track this year. I wanted something that would develop my speed more and put me in shape for summer. Baseball was also just a little too boring. I’ve also been in and out of EFT working with Landen Cox this spring.
How do you feel track has helped you with your WR movements?
I think blocks do a good job imitating a stands start. It helped me get those big long strides and get running fast out of the WR stance
Favorite route to run?
Coach has me run this option route from the slot where I read the middle of the field to see if it’s open or not. Either way i know I’m going to be open.
Game you are looking most forward to this season?
Stevenson. I get a chance to play against one of my good buddies and It’d be awesome to beat him at their place this year.
What goal do you have for yourself this season?
I want to be All-State next year. But I also want really enjoy my senior year being that it’s my last year playing with my best friends.
Give me a Lake Forest Player from 2020-2021 that college coaches should know but might not know?
Breck Nowik, kids a hell of a receiver and I love competing with him.
