COACH BIG PETE'S TAKE

Lyons Township has had a great couple years of athletes, but the main problem is they haven't gotten the credit they deserve. Hareson is one of them, he is one of the underrated athletes in the state of Illinois.

Hareson Willis what schools have you been talking to?

Bethel University(MN), Wisconsin Stevens-Point, Saint Anselm, Concordia University Wisconsin

What have you been doing the offseason to improve yourself for the upcoming season?

I recently suffered a left ankle fracture during my track season, so I have been doing a lot of physical therapy to get my left leg & ankle back to 100%. I’ve been watching a lot of film on myself to see what I could improve on. As well as working with Coach Greg in order to stay working while getting my ankle & leg back to full strength.

What goal do you have for yourself this season?

To become a captain for my school, help lead my school into the playoffs, and become an All-Conference & All-State selection.

What does football mean to you?

It means the world to me, never played a game that could change me as much as football has. The game of football has brought me many strong relationships with coaches, & players. Relationships that I will never forget. It taught me how to get through adversity when it strikes. It has taught me how important mental toughness is throughout life. I would never want to give up a game that has taught me so much about myself & that teamwork always makes the dream work.

What should college coaches know about you?

I believe that every coach should disregard my height. I believe that I have the ability to create space when I have the ball. As well as being very quick to the ball on defense or special teams. I would call myself not only a leader on the field but a leader off the field as well. And that I see myself as a very optimistic & energetic football player as much as a student in the classroom.

What does Lyons Township need to do in order to have a successful season?

To replace all the talent from the previous two years, we must stop run heavy teams. Establish a good offensive and defensive line. Get the ball in the hands of whoever has the hot hand. Defeat the big 3 (HC, GBW, OPRF).

This is your Senior Season coming up, What would you tell 8th graders about Lyon Township football?

Lyons Township football is all about brotherhood and commitment. You must be committed to the process. When you commit yourself you can see the results that follow.

Remember Deep Dish Football Is Just Not About Recruiting But About The Love Of The Game Of Football In The IHSA
