Class of 2019 Pass Rusher Rockford Christian's Josh Drog Talks Football And Recruiting

So in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know , but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams.

COACH BIG PETE'S TAKE

Josh Drog is a 6'3 Edge Rusher that could be compatible in most defensive fronts on a college level. Really impressed with his ability to sniff out the play and front step burst. His Senior season will be one to watch and his handwork progression.

Josh Drog what schools have you talked to?

I have been in contact with coaches at UW La Crosse, UW Stevens Point, St. Norbert College, Minnesota State University Moorehead, UW Platteville and Wheaton College.

What does Rockford Christian Football mean to you?

It means the world to me. I had never played Football before, until coming into Rockford Christian my freshman year. Coach Frederick actually approached me first about playing and I was all in. Now this team is my family, and the only Football family I have known to this point. It is a really special environment that I just feel at home in. Now that my senior season is almost here I am starting to realize how much I will miss the team and the family environment Coach Frederick has created. Years in the future I am pretty sure I will still think of myself as a Royal Lion.

What was one of your favorite memories last season?

Definitely had to be making the playoffs for the first time since 2010. Seeing all the hard work my class and the class above us had put in to turn our team in the right direction finally paying off was amazing. Plus just getting to experience the playoffs is always great in general.

What goal do you have for yourself this season?

My goal is to help my team win by being a leader on the defensive side of the ball. No player can honestly say they have no personal goal set, and mine is to be All-Conference First Team defensive line and hopefully even better than that. I think this is well within my grasp and I have been working very hard to achieve this goal.

Is there a player on Rockford Christian that College Coaches should take a look at?

I would have to recommend looking at our starting offensive tackle, Jaden Ferlita. He is an extremely hard worker in the weight room and on the field. I think with the amount of work he has put in this off season, he has the potential to improve from All-Conference Honorable mention to All-Conference First team and possibly even better than that. He definitely is not someone who I believe should be overlooked this year.

What does it mean to you that this is your senior season?

It means a tremendous amount of things to me. It is my last ride as a Royal Lion which is an almost sad feeling as this was my first team and in many ways my family. I learned the sport of Football on our field and became the player I am now on it. This team holds literally all my memories of playing football. So I will miss both the team family atmosphere and the memories I have created here, along with the Coaches and players I have developed under. At the same time my Senior Year excites me. I will be the older guy on the field now and finally get to see the entire payoff of all my hard work throughout High school. I have things to prove this year, as well as Colleges to impress. All in all I am extremely excited for my Senior Season, and hope it to be easily my best one.
