Talking With One Of Illinois's Top Tight Ends Winnebago's Tanner Inglima Class Of 2019

So in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know , but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams.

Tanner Inglima Winnebago Tight End Class of 2019 6'4 230

COACH BIG PETE'S TAKE

6'4 Wide frame tight end, that has some of the best hands in the state. Key is his yardage he gained last season after the first hit that shows his potential. Looking forward to seeing his progression on his run blocking, thats what will be key in his devlopment.

Tanner Inglima what schools have you been talking to?

I just got home from a junior day at St Cloud State in Minnesota. I have been in contact with Augustana and got invited to attend Drake University's Junior Day and a junior day in Mancato. I plan on visiting Platteville and Whitewater and then Indiana Wesleyan's Junior Day as well. I have also been invited to attend several camps accross the US from Yale to Northern Arizona.

What is one thing that you are trying to improve in your game this offseason?

I am definitely going to try and improve my speed and my 5 yard acceleration off the ball to go into the second level. Gonna make sure I'm in the weight room everyday. I plan on getting on the field as much as possible and getting throws in with our new quarterback coming in as a junior.

Favorite memory from last season?

Beating Rockford Lutheran in a mud bowl that sealed us into the playoffs. We were called the Nasty19 cause we only had nineteen guys on our varsity roster including a couple sophomores and no one even considered us into the playoffs. Getting in the playoffs and proving the people that doubted us that we weren't going down easily really felt good to all of us.

What is one thing college coaches should know about you?

I want colleges to know that I consider myself the guy they can rely on to make a play and not necessarily just the big play at the end of the game but plays throughout the game to setup winning scenarios because I always put the team first and me second. I don't want anything I do to hurt the team. I try to be that hard worker to get everyone better and I consider myself resilient throughout the game and very smart at picking up what the defense is doing to stop me and exploiting their weakness.

Game you are looking the most forward to this season ?

Byron week 1 at Byron. Our biggest rival and they rolled over us last year but I'm looking forward to a rematch. They have always been a huge rival to us in every sport and our whole team is looking forward at another crack at them.

What does Winnebago football mean to you?

My whole life has been around Winnebago football since I was crawling on the practice field. My dad has been the RB coach there for a long time and I remember looking up to the guys on the teams as I was growing up. I was really close with my brother's class of 2010 and I have always wanted to wear the orange and black uniform and going into my senior year and looking back at the great teams that passed, I am looking forward to joining those teams up on the wall.

Give me one Winnebago player that College Coaches should take a look at?

I can give you a few. There is RB/LB Jared Roberts C/DL Jared Spickler RB/CB Caden Hawkins FB/DL Garrett Buckner and WR/CB Cole Segar and he's only a sophomore right now. There are more players that can't be slept on either but all those guys there are great players and hard workers and can make a college coach happy.
