Meet Glenbard West's Marky Winters DT/DE/ER Class Of 2019

So in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know , but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams.

Marky Winters DT/DE/ER Class of 2019 Glenbard West 6'2 220

COACH BIG PETE'S TAKE

Mark Winters is by far one of the more impressive defensive linemen I ever interviewed. Great technique, one of the best at his job of gap assignments. I consider Winters one of my top risers this summer, still a little under the radar.

Marky Winters what schools have you been talking to?

The only school that has reached out to me is Minnesota State Moorhead

What position do you see yourself playing in college?

Honestly I still can see myself playing D line but maybe also FB because I started to play a little of that at the end of last season and probably will be playing more of it this coming season

Glenbard West Defense requires alot from its defensive line, What does playing on the line mean you?

It’s means a lot to me, it means that my teammates and coaches have trust in me to be a big factor in stopping our opponents running game and forcing them to attack the perimeter or throw

Got ask... On average how many times have you been held during a game by OL? lol

Haha, honestly a decent amount plays because almost every team’s top run play is inside zone and we would usually pinch our ends inside the B gaps so the tackle would usually latch on and try to tackle us to the ground. But I hate making excuses, lol

Very true, and sign of a good DL NO EXCUSES .. When you take a look this upcoming season, What game are you looking forward to the most?

It’s a dead on tie between Maine South and Hinsdale Central. Maine south kicked our ass last year and everyone’s ready for another shot at them, Hinsdale on the other hand I lost to them Frosh and Soph year in a one score game and finally beat them this year but they had a lot of Juniors on their O line and I’m looking forward to getting to go against them again this year.

What do you want college coaches to know about you?

I would want them to know that I will play any position, I’m really willing to go where ever I have to go to make sure my team comes out on top

Give me a young and up and coming Hitter from the 2020-2021 class that people should know about?

Greyson Metz, he played up with us last season he’s about 6’2 an OLB and if he fills himself out he has D1 potential for sure

Remember Deep Dish Football Is Just Not About Recruiting But About The Love Of The Game Of Football In The IHSA

RESPECT THE GAME
