Coach Big Pete's Take

Grant has great arm length and an knack for finding the ball carrier. Ability to fight of blockers and make a play on his assignments is what makes him special.

Grant Edwards what schools have you been talking to?

Primarily MAC conference, Ohio Valley conference, Missouri Valley Conference and Ivy League Programs.

So Grant what do you think makes Sacred Heart Griffin Football so special?

My teammates and I are very fortunate to play for head Coach Ken Leonard. Coach Leonard has set the standard for tradition and football in Illinois. It is an honor to play for SHG and to earn the right to wear the gold helmet like so many great teams of the past.

What do College Coaches need to know about you?

I would like coaches to know that I will outwork and out-hustle anyone the other team puts in front of me and that I have that same work ethic in the classroom and in life. I want them to know I will never let them down if they give me a chance to prove myself.

What is one memorable moment for you last season?

After a summer injury, my first returning home game back was when the stadium was named after Coach Leonard and Liz Leonard was able to be there for the dedication. Another memory was when we met with Rochester before our game and held a group prayer for Mrs. Leonard. Two of the best coaches in the state, father vs. son, but two communities and teams united for one special woman.

Do you have a goal for yourself this coming season ?

I’ve been playing football with the same guys since 4th grade and we are going to win a state title together. My class is a special group and we are focused on winning state for our last season together as a Cyclone family.

Do you have a dream school that you want to play for?

That’s a tough one. I would have to say Notre Dame. I’ve been a fan ever since my Dad took me to a game when I was in 5th grade. The tradition the Fighting Irish program and fans have was great to experience.
